About The Event
Mark this Saint Patrick's Day with a walk off the beaten track to his ancient well in Sheepland, near Ardglass. Explore the myths of a landscape rich in folklore and associations with him. Part of the Ballyhornan Coastal Path, this is a guided scenic clifftop walk. You will also learn about the areas rich folklore; hear tales of Vikings, shipwreck and smuggling.
This ancient spring has its own folklore and traditions. Depending on the tide, we may have the opportunity to walk on the mystical feature known as Saint Patrick's Road! The legend goes that this was to take him to the Isle of Man.
Included in the tour is the oldest stone statue of the Madonna and Child and some of the largest collection of the oldest stained glass ever found in Ireland. Access is given to private lanes which take us onto the stunning cliffs with views as far as Scotland and the Isle of Man.
On return to Curran's Bar we can sit around the fireside and enjoy a sumptuous lunch of local seafood chowder. Take in some of our hospitality as we listen to traditional music players.
