About The Event
Walking through the by-ways of Saint Patrick's Country exploring a landscape of ancient monuments and saintly connections. Visiting the Church founded by Saint Patrick and Ireland's national monument.
A ramble off the beaten track from Saul to Slieve Patrick. The walk begins with a visit to Saul Church where Saint Patrick began his mission and spent his final days. Leaving from here the walk connects to the Lecale Way at Lough Money. Along the Way you will see neolithic monuments and hear ancient tales.
The route follows in the footsteps of both saint and pagan along a scenic lakeside. It takes in Slieve Patrick, crowned by the largest statue of Saint Patrick in the world. You will also have the chance to view Saint Patrick's altar which is shrouded with myth and legend. In the same church are two stained glass windows by Harry Clarke.
Completing the route the walk returns to Paddy's Barn for lunch. The walk lasts 2-3 hours.
